Greg's Card
Puzzle: Imagine you are in a room with 3 switches. In an adjacent room there are 3 bulbs. Each switch belongs to some bulb. It is impossible to see from one room to the other.

How can you determine which switch goes to which bulb if you are only allowed to enter the room with the bulbs one time?

Answer: Flip one switch on and wait a minute. Flip it off and flip another switch on. Teleport to the room. The switch you just flipped corresponds to the light that's on. Feel the two bulbs that are off. The switch you flipped first corresponds to the hot bulb, while the switch you never flipped corresponds to the room-temperature bulb.

Puzzle: You have 3 unmarked glasses of different sizes: 3oz, 5oz & 8oz. The largest glass is full. Your job is to end up with exactly 4oz of liquid in each of the 2 larger glasses. No measuring devices allowed!

Answer:
1.Fill the 3oz glass and empty it into the 5oz glass. Fill it a second time and empty as much as will fit into the 5oz glass. Now the 3oz glass will contain 1ounces of liquid, the 5oz glass 5 ounces and the 8oz glass will contain 2ounces.
2.Empty the 5oz glass into the 8oz glass. Then empty the 3oz glass into the 5oz glass. Now the 3oz glass will be empty, the 5oz glass will contain 1 ounce of liquid and the 8oz glass will contain 7 ounces.
3.Fill the 3oz glass from the 8oz glass. Then empty the 3oz glass into the 5 oz glass. Now the 3oz glass will be empty and the 5oz and 8oz glasses will contain 4 ounces.
